From the Central Coast to Your Walls and Wardrobe

Birch & Banksia grew from a fascination with botanical illustration and a deep respect for the landscapes that shape us. Based on the Central Coast of New South Wales, we're surrounded by the very species that inspire our collections: banksia woodlands, sandstone gullies, and coastal eucalypts.

We found ourselves drawn to the historic botanical plates that first introduced Australian and North American flora to the world. Artists like Sydney Parkinson, Ferdinand Bauer, and Edward Minchen captured these species with extraordinary precision and artistry. We wanted to bring that work back into everyday life, not locked in archives, but on your walls and in your wardrobe.

  • Nature Forward

Every design begins with a real species, a real artist, and a real moment in botanical history.

We don't invent nature, we honour it.
  • Progress, Not Perfection

We're honest about where we are on our sustainability journey. We share what we've achieved and what we're still working on.

No greenwashing and no vague promises.
  • Quality Over Quantity

We curate a small, intentional range rather than flooding your choices. Every product is made to order.

Nothing sits in a warehouse, and nothing goes to waste.

From Archive to Your Door

Every piece follows a deliberate path, sourced carefully, produced responsibly, and made only when you order it.

  • Source & Select

We search historic botanical archives, institutions like the Biodiversity Heritage Library, for plates with scientific accuracy and real artistic merit. Not every illustration makes the cut.

  • Restore & Enhance

Original scans are carefully restored using AI-assisted upscaling and manual colour correction. We preserve the character of the original artwork while bringing it to modern print resolution. Labels are added to the prints indicating scientific name, common name, and artist attribution.

  • Print to Order

Your print is produced only when you order it so there are no warehouses of unsold stock. Printed on FSC-certified uncoated matte paper with archival-quality inks rated to last 100+ years without fading.

  • Ship Carbon-Aware

Packed in recycled, plastic-free packaging and shipped via carbon-aware routing. We're working toward full carbon-neutral delivery... not there yet, but tracking every shipment.

  • Design & Adapt

Botanical illustrations are reinterpreted for garment printing, simplified for DTG reproduction while keeping the essence of the original artwork intact. We have a main collection of apparel images, and will be releasing limited edition prints regularily.

  • Certified Materials

Every garment uses GOTS-certified organic cotton or recycled blends. The base garments are sourced from verified ethical manufacturers with no anonymous supply chains.

  • Print on Demand

Your item is printed when you order it using water-based, OEKO-TEX certified inks. Zero overproduction. Zero dead stock sitting in a landfill.

  • Quality & Ship

Each piece is checked before dispatch. Same carbon-aware shipping, same recycled packaging. Production takes 3–5 business days because it's made for you, not pulled from a shelf.

Founder · Central Coast, NSW

"These are prints I'm proud to hang on my own wall, and apparel that puts sustainability and comfort first. Whether you've just moved out for the first time or you're in your forever home, my intention is that our pieces find a place on any wall, and our apparel a spot in any wardrobe. Birch & Banksia started because I wanted something that felt real... not another brand built on stock photos and buzzwords."

Birch & Banksia is a one-person operation built from the ground up, from sourcing historic botanical plates in digital archives, to hand-adjusting every print for colour accuracy, and even to designing this site.
